Deezer announced the introduction of a feature many have been asking for yet no platform has incorporated before: the option to filter out content labeled as AI-generated. The toggle, which will exclude all tracks labeled as AI during the searching process, will be available by the end of the year.
Deezer Introduces an Option to Filter Out AI-Generated Music
We’ve written extensively about AI-generated content, and while opinions are mixed, many people reject AI music and don’t want it to appear in their recommendations or show up on streaming platforms when they search for music.
The recently introduced Article 50 of the EU AI Act, now obliges service providers and creators to label AI-generated content as such, a feature some had already implemented before the law came into effect. But for some, transparency alone is not enough; to them, the appropriate response would be having the option to filter out content labeled as AI-generated entirely.
Deezer, which has been at the forefront of addressing the question surrounding AI and taking it seriously by adopting a clear stance, is the first to plan on offering this exact feature very soon. Through a simple on/off toggle, users will be able to exclude AI-generated content while searching for music, thereby placing the focus entirely on human artists.
“In 2025, Deezer became the first streaming platform in the world to detect, tag, and exclude AI-generated content from algorithmic and editorial recommendations, in order to increase transparency and minimize AI-related streaming fraud,” the platform explains in an official press release. “Now, Deezer will also allow users to completely remove fully AI-generated music from their streaming experience with a simple toggle button,” it continues.
Transparency and Choice in AI Music Streaming
The reasoning behind its decision is rooted in Deezer’s belief that both transparency and choice matter. “The explosion of AI-generated content continues to impact the entire music ecosystem, and we believe in shaping a future based on transparency and choice, with respect for artists, songwriters, and music fans. We remain committed to minimizing any negative effects, while empowering our users to control their music experience to the greatest extent,” says Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier.
The other reason, Lanternier adds, is clear user demand that has not gone unnoticed. In 2025, Deezer found that 45% of participants in its study would like the option to filter out music that is generated entirely with AI from their streaming platform. Deezer’s decision to give them this option is a clear sign that the platform is listening.
The feature is not yet available but is expected to launch by the end of 2026. In the meantime, Deezer will continue using its patented detection tool to identify AI-generated music, while remaining involved in the wider conversation around the responsible use of AI in the music industry.
