YouTube announced a partnership with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to develop new tools that combat the misuse of AI-generated content, including deepfakes. These tools aim to help identify and protect against malicious use.

As AI videos become increasingly elaborate and realistic, they also pose a growing threat to information accuracy, copyright, and the potential misuse of AI-generated content, such as deepfakes.

To address such misuse on its platform, YouTube announced the development of new AI control tools last year. In a recent blog post, the platform shared further details about its plans, including a new partnership with the entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA).

CAA is a highly experienced company with a portfolio that includes major names and offices around the world. Together, they will provide popular artists with tools and technologies for identifying AI-generated content. Then, CAA will provide feedback to help YouTube build and improve its AI detection system.

In an official statement, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan explained: "In the days ahead, we’ll work with CAA to ensure artists and creators experience the incredible potential of AI while also maintaining creative control over their likeness. This partnership marks a significant step toward building that future."

CEO of CAA, Bryan Lourd, the CEO of CAA, further elaborates on the goals of the partnership, such as “creating a responsible AI ecosystem that protects artists, while unlocking new possibilities for creative expression.”

This approach holds significant potential, as it provides access to data and information about well-known individuals who are at risk of having their content used in deepfakes for malicious purposes. Once developed and refined, the tools will gradually become available to more artists.

AI was among the most widely and extensively discussed topics in 2024. Going into the new year, we expect to see more discussions on the use of AI, its potentials, and its dangers. As AI technology continues to evolve, conversations and collaborations will be crucial in shaping policies and practices.
