Wizzy & Wiley, one of NYC's hottest rising DJ duos. Known for their high-energy sets, they draw inspiration from UK minimal tech and Chicago house to create a dynamic sound. With residencies at iconic venues like Marquee NY and performances alongside stars like Dom Dolla and Diplo, this duo is defining their place in the electronic music scene.
What’s the story behind the formation of Wizzy & Wiley? How did you two first meet and decide to start DJing together?
We originally met in high school at a party right around the time we both had just started DJing. Zach was playing at the party, and I approached him because he had the same Pioneer controller as I did. After that, we didn’t really see each other until a mutual friend invited us to the same party, in Miami. We realized we were basically the same person, which led to us going to Club Space almost every weekend together. After a year or so of us going to each other's shows, we decided to start DJing together.
What do you think is the key to standing out in today’s underground electronic scene?
Be yourself to a T. Build your network as much as you possibly can by going to shows, networking events, and just talking to people in the industry. Produce, produce, produce. Everyone is a DJ these days, so developing your skills in the studio as well as on the decks is key.
What has been the most memorable performance or festival you’ve played so far, and why did it stand out to you?
We’ve played at festivals and warehouses for thousands of people but we always loved DJing in an intimate setting and feeling like we were part of the party. Our favorite set over the last couple of years has to be our first time playing at Hearsay in NYC. The setting is perfect for our sound and it was amazing feeding off the energy of the crowd. We never go into a show with a prepared set as we want to see where the journey takes us and it really clicked that night.
You’ve shared stages with some big names like Diplo, Chris Lake, and DJ Tennis. If you had to pick one favorite collaborator or performer to work with, who would it be and why?
There are so many artists that we love and have taken influence from but a favorite of ours right now would have to be Rossi. His sound has influenced us a lot and we love the artists in the UK minimal scene.
What’s next for Wizzy & Wiley in 2025?
We have a backlog of dozens and dozens of tracks that we want to get out in the next year or so that we are really excited about. A couple of other goals we have set for ourselves are to play more international shows, especially in Europe next summer as well as ADE in the fall, and release tracks on some of our favorite labels like Solid Grooves, Paradise, and Nervous Records.
