Qobuz Launches New Player With Real-Time Lyrics & Contextual Recommendations

Qobuz has updated its user interface and introduced a set of new features. Users can now listen to music through a new audio player, read lyrics in real time, explore expanded credits, and receive contextual recommendations. The updates are available on mobile and tablet devices.
Qobuz Expands Its Platform With New Features
After experiencing strong growth in 2025, the independent music streaming platform Qobuz is expanding its services with a set of new updates. Let’s take a look at each one of them individually.
1. Redesigned Player With New Features
In a post on its blog, Qobuz announced the introduction of a new, redesigned audio player that modernizes the old user interface. “The player features a new, more dynamic interface inspired by the colors and visual aesthetics of album artwork,” the platform says.
To make the listening experience smoother, queue management and autoplay are now more intuitive. Upcoming tracks are displayed more clearly, and a simple swipe allows users to reorder or remove a track. Overall, these changes bring the player more in line with the current standards of music streaming apps.
Finally, the standard miniplayer at the bottom of the app can now be customized with three shortcuts under Settings → Select Playback. Users can include an add-to-favorites, add-to-playlist, or audio-input button.
2. Synchronized Lyrics
In addition to the redesigned player, users can now access real-time synchronized lyrics and read or sing along while listening to their favorite tracks. Translations are included, too, making lyrics more accessible to listeners who don’t speak the language of the song. Considering that music consumption is becoming less English-language-centric, the feature is particularly useful for listeners discovering music in different languages.
3. Music Discovery Tools
Qobuz has also decided to expand its discovery tools as part of the new player with a new Explore section. This section contains recommendations for similar albums and artists, playlists, and content linked to the label and genre of the track a user is listening to. It also gives access to Qobuz’s editorial content, “allowing the user to extend their listening experience without ever leaving the universe of the current track.”
4. Expanded Artist & Release Credits
Finally, the platform has redesigned its credits section to make information about releases, artists, and contributors more easily accessible. This way, users can find information about the track or the people behind the release more easily. This is a benefit for all artists involved.
Qobuz: A Niche Platform Worth Considering
Qobuz may be a smaller platform compared to the big players, but it is becoming increasingly popular among listeners thanks to its artist-centric approach, strong focus on editorial curation, independent positioning, and its stance on AI in music.
