QOBUZ SHOP

What is Qobuz?

Qobuz is a music streaming platform and a download purchase service. Its name comes from an ancient Turkic bowed string instrument called kobyz/qobyz. Qobuz was established in 2008 in France and gradually expanded to 25 markets during its 15 years of existence. Nowadays, the company operates across countries in the USA, Latin America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

The fundamental goal of Qobuz is to allow for unlimited sound and product quality while providing listeners with the ultimate freedom of choice of music. Resenting the MP3 format, the platform specializes exclusively in lossless streaming and downloading. Qobuz was the first service in the world to offer its entire catalog for both download and streaming in CD quality 16-bit/44.1kHz.

Currently, it offers all music (more than 80 million tracks) in CD-DA quality lossless as well as hi-resolution quality lossless (24-bit). MP3 streaming and downloading is still available on the platform as an option for saving storage space or using less bandwidth.

Why should Qobuz matter to you as an independent artist?

Qobuz website-iMusician

The focus on lossless audio streaming and downloading benefits not only the listeners but also predominantly the artists, allowing them to present their work of art in the best quality possible. What’s more, the team at Qobuz strives to support artists in every possible way, whether it’s through artist interviews, panoramas and other editorial content, or manually created playlists using no AI and algorithms.

Unlike many other streaming and download platforms, Qobuz is a relatively small, privately-owned company that runs and thrives on music. This makes the platform fully devoted to its artists, users and its overall purpose. On top of that, there is no genre that Qobuz doesn’t cover – it’s therefore suitable for any independent musician like yourself out there.
