Amazon Increases Prices of Its ‘Music Unlimited’ Streaming Subscriptions

In line with recent trends among music streaming platforms, Amazon Music has increased the prices for its “Unlimited“ streaming subscriptions. The new price adjustments currently apply to users in the US, UK, and Canada.

Amazon Music follows an industry trend with price hikes

The prices of (not only) music streaming platform subscriptions have steadily risen over recent years, infamously led by Spotify. The Sweden-based streaming giant introduced global price hikes in 2023 and raised prices again in 2024, affecting solely US-based users. In 2024, both Tidal and Apple Music raised the prices of their music streaming subscriptions, with Tidal also notably discontinuing its Free Tier.

Now, Amazon Music has implemented its second price adjustment in two years, with the previous hike appearing in August 2023. In the US, individual non-Prime members will now pay $11.99 monthly, up from $10.99. This change now aligns Amazon Music Unlimited non-Prime rates with Spotify's Premium subscription prices.

Prime members will see their monthly rate rise from $9.99 to $10.99. Notably, Prime members continue to enjoy a $1 discount on individual plans, giving Amazon a slight competitive edge advantage over Spotify.

While the individual subscriptions will experience only a $1 price increase, it’s the Family plan subscribers that face a much more substantial price jump. The Family plan monthly rates have grown to $19.99 from $16.99, while the annual subscriptions now cost $199, up from $169, as shown on Amazon Music’s updated FAQ page. Similar price adjustments, reflected in local currencies, have also been introduced in the UK and Canada.

Beyond the Music Unlimited subscriptions, Amazon Music continues to offer additional tiers, including Amazon Music Free, an ad-supported option, and Amazon Music Prime, included with Prime membership.

Just for comparison, here’s a snapshot of the current monthly rates across major music streaming platforms in the US:

  • Spotify: Individual—$11.99; Family—$19.99/month

  • Amazon Music Unlimited: Individual—$11.99 for non-Prime, $10.99 for Prime members; Family—$19.99/month

  • Apple Music: Individual—$10.99, Family—$16.99

  • YouTube Music: Individual—$10.99; Family—$16.99

  • Tidal: Individual—$10.99; Family—$16.99
