In the face of intense competition, music streaming platforms are doing everything possible to outdo each other and win the attention (which translates to an active premium subscription) of music listeners worldwide. Most recently, Apple Music has debuted some new features. Let’s check them out.

Will New Features Make Apple Music More Appealing?

At the latest Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025, Apple introduced new translation capabilities and karaoke features for Apple Music—both available as part of the upcoming iOS 26 update. As the name suggests, the Lyrics Translation feature allows users to understand the lyrics of songs in foreign languages without needing help from external sources. Currently, users can choose from the following language variations: English to Chinese, English to Japanese, Korean to Chinese (simplified), Korean to English, Korean to Japanese, and Spanish to English.

On top of that, users can make use of Lyrics Pronunciation, which is supposed to help them sing along to songs in various unfamiliar languages. This feature is available for select songs in the following options: Cantonese to Jyutping, Chinese (simplified) to Pinyin, Chinese (traditional) to Pinyin, Hindi to Romanized Hindi, Japanese to Romanized Japanese, Korean to Katakana, Korean to Romanized Korean, and Punjabi to Romanized Punjabi.

The new update also features an AutoMix option that creates continuous playlists based on previously played songs. This feature utilizes AI to transition seamlessly from one track to another—employing time stretching and beat matching—just like a DJ.

It’s also essential to note the set of interactive karaoke features, which includes real-time lyrics, visual effects, and onscreen emoji reactions, all designed to create the perfect online karaoke experience. Users can join simultaneously using individual iPhones to add new songs to a queue or submit reactions.

In addition to introducing new features, Apple also utilized WWDC 2025 to unveil a new design for its apps, including Apple Music.

In Apple Music, News, and Podcasts, the tab bar is redesigned to float above users’ content, dynamically shrink when users are browsing to put content front and center, and then expand when they scroll back up,” said Apple’s representative.

Currently, all new features are available for testing through the Apple Developer Program. A public beta is supposed to be available next month through the Apple Beta Software Program.
