I Am Leaving iMusician for Another Distributor. What's the Procedure?
If you’ve decided to switch from iMusician to another distributor, there are a few important steps to follow to ensure a smooth transition:
1. Remove All Of Your Releases From The Shops
You need to remove all your releases from the stores before redistributing them with another distributor. Keep in mind that takedowns can take up to 4 weeks to be processed by all the shops. You will need to wait for the takedowns to be fully completed before your new distributor can redistribute your music.
2. Wait To Collect Your Remaining Revenue
Once your releases are taken down, they will no longer generate new revenue. However, you may still have revenue due from the period before the takedown. We recommend waiting for about 6 months before closing your iMusician account to ensure you’ve collected all outstanding royalties. Once your iMusician account is closed, you will no longer have access to your revenue.
3. Collect And Store Your ISRCs And Barcodes
Make sure to safely store all your ISRCs and barcodes. Reusing these codes with your new distributor will allow you to retain your previous streams, playlists, and metadata on streaming platforms.
4. Switch Your Label’s Ownership for Beatport & Traxsource
If your label is registered on Beatport and Traxsource through iMusician, you’ll need to request a label switch to your new distributor.
5. Close Your iMusician Account
You should only proceed with closing your iMusician account once you’ve completed all the steps above.
Follow these steps carefully to ensure a smooth transition to your new distributor without losing any valuable data or revenue!
