Apple Music Launches ‘Partner Program’ for Labels and Distributors

Apple Music announced that it is rolling out a new ‘Partner Program’ for labels and distributors. The program includes various data analytics tools designed to help them gain a better understanding of the music landscape and measure the performance of their marketing strategies.

Music analytics are essential to music marketing, allowing artists to learn more about their audiences and develop better promotional strategies. They are equally important for record labels that manage several artists simultaneously, as they provide an overview of a label’s audience, process, and the success of its musicians.

Now, Apple Music announced that it is rolling out new ‘premium’ data analytics tools for record labels and distributors. The tools will allow them to “maximize new release exposure, promote new releases, and optimize (their) next marketing campaign.” Its premium suite will help them “uncover a deeper look at the global music landscape” to “break new acts at home and abroad.”

Partners of the streaming service will be able to track music streaming and radio trends using Shazam technology, among other things. The campaign attribution tool enables users to measure the performance of their marketing channels and analyze the impact of their marketing strategies. This way, they can find out how many listeners discover an artist or re-engage with them.

Meanwhile, the “real-time listeners” tool tracks listener counts across various mediums, including the radio and social media. Users can thus gain insight into the success of their promotional strategies and adjust them quickly. Advanced analytics tools allow them to run large queries and receive valuable insights into the music market.

On top of that, the “Apple Music Atlas” helps labels and distributors gain a better understanding of the music landscape. For instance, it will allow them to “quickly visualize the relationships among recordings, performers, and works” and “browse recording credits and discographies to help make more informed decisions, like never before.” The Atlas comprises over 15 million artists, over 35 million albums, and over 100 million recordings. Its “Chart Explorer” feature enables them to use near real-time data to detect the next hit early on. They will also receive invitations to exclusive events and further customer support from Apple Music.

The Partner Program has been available since May 9th, 2024. However, the access is limited to only a few US-based record labels and distributors working with Apple Music. It is an addition to the already existing analytics platform as part of Apple Music For Artists.

Using data from social media apps and streaming platforms can be incredibly useful in marketing. We, too, understand this reality and offer our subscribers unlimited access to their music and revenue data in one place, allowing them to optimize their music promotion and release strategies.
