Qobuz New Features Classical - iMusician

The high-res streaming service Qobuz is rolling out several new tools. In addition to Qobuz Radio, which curates unique playlists designed to reflect one’s musical tastes, improved music discovery features and an Android TV app are also new.

Enhanced music discovery features for classical music fans

Qobuz has made significant strides to enhance its music discovery and search features, specifically for classical music fans. Search results have been simplified and streamlined, improving the way classical music is catalogized. Classical fans can now find music by searching specific works, including operas, symphonies, concertos, and sonatas, composer names, or specific pieces of composition.

Making these steps towards improvement in this area was necessary for the company as it has been facing tough competition ever since Apple Music Classical launched in 2023.

Qobuz Android TV app for more potential customers

Additionally, Qobuz subscribers who use Chromecast devices can test the platform’s new Android TV app, which is currently in beta.

Android TV and its built-in system, Google TV, have more than 110 million viewers each month, introducing a lucrative market for a relatively niche streaming music platform.

What’s more, Android TV may present another opportunity for Qobuz to compete with Apple Music Classical, especially now that the search engine has been improved. Classical music-designated streaming platforms are hard to find, and it might be refreshing for classical fans to have more options to choose from.

Last but not least, Qobuz is newly offering its subscribers free access to a service called Soundiiz. The platform allows users to transfer their favorite playlists, albums, tracks, or artists’ entire discographies across a variety of popular music streaming services, including Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, or Qobuz. In total, 43 services are available to select from on Soundiiz, each of which can be used to transfer music from or to.
