Are My Tracks Eligible for YouTube's Content ID?
YouTube’s Content ID monetization is a powerful way for creators to monetize their music, but unfortunately not all tracks are eligible for Content ID. To make sure your tracks meets YouTube’s requirements, please take the time to read the following information 👇
Eligibility Criteria for YouTube Content ID
Your track is eligible for YouTube’s Content ID monetization if it meets all of the following conditions:
- The track is not based on non-exclusive content (e.g., a beat you downloaded for free).
- The track doesn’t contain samples (e.g., non-exclusive samples bought on a website).
- The track doesn’t contain any sort of nature sound samples.
- The track must be longer than 30 seconds.
- The track doesn’t contain more than 10 seconds of spoken word material.
- The track is not a cover version, medley, or remix of a song from another artist.
- The track is not a recording of a live performance or speech.
- The track doesn’t contain Creative Commons content.
- The track is not a traditional song or a public domain composition.
- The track is not taken from a soundtrack (e.g., video games, TV, or films).
- The track has not already been monetized with Content ID by another distributor.
- The track is not an alternative version of a track already monetized with Content ID by the same artist (e.g., an instrumental version, an acoustic version, or an edit).
If your track doesn’t match these requirements, we won’t be able to monetize it with YouTube’s Content ID.
What Happens When You Order Content ID?
When ordering Content ID, you will be asked to confirm that your tracks meet the eligibility criteria in order to complete the order. It’s crucial that your content aligns with these guidelines. Please make sure that your music is fully compliant before selecting this service. We will reject your monetization request if your tracks do not meet YouTube’s eligibility guidelines and we will not refund the order.
What Happens Next?
If your content meets the eligibility requirements, Content ID monetization will be activated on the day your release goes live on the platforms. If there are any issues with eligibility, the Content ID will not be activated.
