The electronic-music-centric online store Beatport has unveiled a new feature to facilitate collaboration among artists.

Artist Network: helping artists to find like-minded collaborators

Unveiled in an official statement, the new feature will be called ‘Artist Network’ and be powered by LabelRadar, a demo submission and music discovery platform acquired by Beatport in 2022. The purpose of ‘Artist Network’ is to promote and simplify the process of finding like-minded artists and collaborators in the world of electronic music.

The concept behind the feature reportedly stems from recent data highlighting that approximately 68% of artists face struggles and challenges in finding collaborators with similar interests, visions, and creative values.

The platform will enable artists to set their availability for collaborations, identify their genre of interest, and specify their country of origin (or location), language, and even their DAW of choice. This way, artists should be able to better find music partners who align with their creative vision and direction.

Additionally, the platform will allow users to show their preference regarding in-person, remote, or hybrid work, enabling musicians to collaborate regardless of geographical barriers.

Director of Product Management (Music Services) at Beatport and Co-Founder of LabelRadar Derek Clark highlighted the formative role of innovation in the platform’s mission to “support and empower the artist community.”

The Artist Network makes it easier than ever for artists to collaborate with one another, marking a significant advancement in our platform, providing artists with the tools they need to connect, collaborate, and thrive like never before,” he added in the announcement.

The launch of Beatport’s Artist Network follows a whole series of other collaboration platforms. In August of this year, AI company Lemonaide launched a new collaboration tool, ‘Collab Club,’ while a month earlier, music tech audio startup Submix raised $1M in funding and launched its platform worldwide to offer remote music collaborations.

Beatport itself has previously engaged in streamlining artist collaboration and promoting the music community. The online store has recently partnered with Amazon-owned platform Twitch to establish a dedicated channel supporting the global DJ community through live-streaming.
