French Audio Technology Company Ircam Amplify has unveiled a new AI tool that strives to detect music generated by artificial intelligence.
A new tool targeting AI-generated audio files
The tool, simply called AI-Generated Detector, is designed to help music industry stakeholders identify ‘artificial’ audio files. It targets music labels, publishers, digital distributors, rights organizations, and streaming platforms. According to Ircam Amplify, it can scan up to 5,000 songs in less than a minute, with an accuracy rate of 98.5%.
The rate is slightly higher than that of Believe’s new software of a similar type, AI Radar, which can reportedly detect AI-generated music with 98% accuracy.
The tool’s release comes after TikTok revealed it has been working on its own automatic AI content detection system in September 2023 to support its new protocol to label AI-generated content. Should TikTok implement the tool, it will have a high bar to reach.
Ircan Amplify is a branch of the French audio research lab IRCAM-Centre Pompidou. It offers a variety of products across different fields. Its flagship product, Stereo to Spatial, was released in 2023, providing a “seamless and affordable spatialization process” for distributors and record labels.
Besides these two tools mentioned above, the company also offers a Quality Check feature, which evaluates the compliance of digital tracks with hi-res format, a vocal extractor tool called Vocal Separator, Music Tagger, and Infringement Detector, identifying copyright infringement in songs.
The new AI-Generated Detector will first be showcased at the upcoming Music Biz conference, which will take place in Nashville from May 13 to 16, 2024.
