Alaska Blue is the musical project formed by singer-songwriter Elisabetta Giordano and guitarist Davide Casi. After making a living as street performers in several Italian cities, the duo has decided to release their first songs. We liked the refined and experimental sounds of their latest single Night Shift so much that we had to ask Davide to tell us more.

Tell us about yourselves, who are you and how did your musical project come about?
"Elisabetta and I met in 2018. I, being a self-taught guitarist, decided to take lessons at a music school in Bergamo. As chance would have it, during the first piano lesson I met Elisabetta. Shortly after, we both dropped out of the course, so it was really a matter of chance.
We are both inveterate travelers and that's why we started playing as street performers in different Italian cities, including Milan, Lucca, Volterra and Naples; until 2019, when we dedicated ourselves to the recording of our first own songs. On October 30, 2020 we release our first single Outsider."

Tell us a little bit about your latest single "Night Shift".
This is a song we wrote during the summer of 2020. We spent two months in a tent on a small hill in Tuscany, surrounded by nature and with a breathtaking view of the sea. It was a very special time: no money and in a magnificent place away from the frenzy of the cities, immersed in the silence of nature. In exchange for room and board, we worked in the fields during the day and dedicated our evenings to music. On one of those summer evenings, "Night Shift" was born in our tent. Initially composed on guitar, we tried to give the song more interesting sounds by adding synthesizers and drum samples. The lyrics were born just as spontaneously and capture images of who we are."
How has your experience been so far with Spotify and other streaming platforms?
Scheduling a record release can be complex, especially for beginners. iMusician has a simpler interface than other distributors, which makes the process much easier. Of all the platforms we have published on, Spotify is perhaps the most interesting because it offers the possibility to interact with listeners.
What projects await you in 2021?
"In the coming months, we will release two more singles that, along with the previous two, will be part of our debut album. What we are most looking forward to this year is playing live again, as we believe that the best way to get our music across is on stage."
