How do I pitch a track to Spotify playlists myself?
Pitching your songs to curated Spotify playlists is a great way to increase your music's visibility and reach more listeners. Every artist releasing music on Spotify can pitch their tracks to editorial playlists, and you should too!
How to ensure timely delivery for pitching:
- When uploading your release with us, select "Spotify pitching" in Step 1 "Delivery".
- Choose a digital release date that is more than 14 working days in the future.
- Your release should appear in your Spotify for Artists account a few days after submission.

Please note: Once you select "Spotify pitching" in Step 1, the release date calendar will automatically adjust and earlier dates will not be available. Those dates cannot be selected because your release must be delivered at least 14 working days in advance of your chosen release date to enable pitching to an official Spotify playlist.
Important points to consider:
- Submitting a song doesn't guarantee playlist placement, but it's worth a try
- Pitching to Spotify playlists is free, and external parties cannot influence Spotify's editors
- You can only submit one song per release
- You cannot submit a track that's already been released on Spotify
- If your release has four or more main artists, Spotify classifies it as a compilation, and you won't be able to pitch it
- You can only pitch a song if you're listed as a main artist on it; featuring artists cannot submit tracks to playlists
- The Spotify for Artists' desktop version supports the pitching feature, but the mobile version does not
- The duration a song stays on a playlist varies based on listener engagement
- You cannot remove yourself from a playlist once added
Note: this article is about pitching your song yourself on your Spotify for Artists account. Alternatively, iMusician also offers an Editorial Playlist Pitching service where our curation team checks submitted releases for pitching purposes. Follow this link for more information. It is not recommended to pitch the same release yourself via Spotify for Artists if you’re already in our Editorial Playlist Pitching process.
