When Can I See My Revenue?
As a distributor, we receive sales reports and revenue from streaming platforms only after they have completed a thorough verification process. This procedure involves reviewing your streams and sales to identify any abnormal activities (e.g., stream boosting) and de-monetizing non-organic streams or sales.
This process takes up to three months from the time a stream or sale is generated. Once the checks are completed, the platforms share a finalized sales report with us, and we make it available on your dashboard in the fourth month.
Why Does It Take Four Months To See My Revenue?
To better illustrate this process, here’s an example:
- Track Release Date: January 1st
- Streams/Sales Generated: January 1st to 31st
- Sales Verification Period: February 1st to April 30th
- Sales Data Transfer: Sales data are shared with us on May 1st
- Revenue Availability: We add the data in the May sales report (usually in midmonth).
Three months is the average time needed for platforms to thoroughly check streams and sales. However, delays can sometimes occur due to the following reasons:
- Each platform conducts checks at its own pace. If their review process takes longer than expected, it can delay the availability of your sales data.
- If a platform updates its monetization policies, the verification process may be temporarily delayed.
In order to add your sales data to your dashboard, we first need to receive it. This means that if the shops delay your revenue reports for any reason, we’ll only be able to share the sales data with you once we’ve received it. Please remember that, as a distributor, we are not involved in the calculation of your sales revenue. This means we are unable to provide detailed information about how the amounts were calculated!
How Does The Release Date Affect When I Can See My Revenue?
Depending on your release dates, there may be slight variations in when your revenue appears. For example, if an album is released at the end of March, its sales might only start being processed the following month. This means the sales data wouldn’t appear in the July sales report, but rather in the August report.
