Can I Re-Release Previous Tracks?
There are some important things to acknowledge when you're re-distributing your music:
1. The Track Was Distributed by iMusician
You just need to use the Include from Library button to add the track to your release. That way the audio file and the metadata will stay the same.
2. The Content Wasn’t Distributed by iMusician
In this case, you first must ask your previous distributor to take down your release from all platforms. This is important to prevent duplicates and conflicts when you re-distribute it with us. During the order process, you will need to answer Yes in the field “Have you released this previously, either physically or digitally?” and provide the original release date. Please note that DIY platforms like Bandcamp or SoundCloud do not count as “official” distribution!
3. Switching Distributors on Beatport
If you’re joining us to distribute your music on Beatport, keep in mind that they only allow one distributor per label at a time. That means that if you’re switching distributors, you will need to request a label ownership switch before proceeding with the re-distribution.
4. Re-using the ISRCs
If the tracks are identical, you can reuse the original ISRC codes. Make sure that the metadata matches exactly what you provided to your former distributor and link your existing Spotify & Apple Music profiles so your music gets assigned properly when it goes back online. In order to keep your streams and playlisting, create and submit the release through our platform and then ask your former distributor to take down the tracks five days after we've released them. This will allow some time for the stores to transfer the data from one release to another.
If however, you’ve made any changes in the metadata (e.g. remastered or bonus tracks) or if you’ve changed your artist name, then new ISRCs will be required. Your previous streams and playlisting will unfortunately not be recovered.
