Which Label Should I Use?
A music label is a company or brand that manages the production, promotion, and marketing of your music. Whether you’re signed with a label or not, you are required to fill in a label name whenever you create a new release. Don’t worry though, this doesn’t mean that you must get a record label deal in order to distribute your music! Whether you’re already affiliated with a label or not, we provide flexible label options to suit your needs. Here’s a guide to help you decide which label you should choose to distribute your release:
iMD Label: Free & Customizable
iMusician offers a free iMD label name that can be customized to suit your artist or release style. This option is available to all users and is a great starting point if you’re looking for a simple, cost-effective label solution. Keep in mind that the iMD prefix cannot be edited out, so using this label is more relevant if you don’t need a 100% autonomous brand.
iM Electronica Label for Electronic Releases
For electronic music releases, iMusician offers the iM Electronica label, which is already registered with Traxsource and Beatport. This option is a simple way of distributing your music on these specialized platforms without going through the registration process. However, this label name cannot be edited so it’s relevant to use if you don’t need a fully autonomous brand.
Personalized Labels for AMPLIFY+ and AMPLIFY Pro Users
If you’re an AMPLIFY+ or AMPLIFY Pro subscriber, you can create your own personalized label to enhance your brand identity. That’s particularly useful if you are already affiliated with a label and you must credit them. Please note that:
- Your custom label will only remain active while your AMPLIFY+ or AMPLIFY Pro subscription is active.
- These labels are not automatically registered with Beatport or Traxsource. Separate registration is required to distribute on these platforms.
Purchased Personalized Labels
If you prefer a label that’s fully yours regardless of your plan, you can purchase a personalized label. This label is fully customizable (no iMusician branding) and it can be used indefinitely, even if you’re no longer subscribed to AMPLIFY+ or AMPLIFY Pro.
- Like other custom labels, purchased labels are not automatically registered with Beatport or Traxsource. Separate registration is required to distribute on these platforms.
